On Thursday there was a traffic accident between a pedestrian and a vehicle shortly before 7 a.m., as the police wrote in a statement on Saturday. According to previous investigations by the Basel-Stadt traffic police, a 24-year-old driver was traveling from the direction of Gartenbad Bachgraben through Belforterstrasse towards Hegenheimerstrasse. He overlooked a 55-year-old pedestrian who was regarding to cross the pedestrian crossing.
As a result of his serious injuries, the pedestrian had to be stabilized at the scene of the accident by an emergency doctor and paramedics from the Basel-Stadt Medical Center. He was then taken to the University Hospital of Basel-Stadt. Due to the traffic closure, public transport on Belforterstrasse was also briefly affected.
