With the push given to them by having achieved a process room with sanitary resolution with the support of Indap, the associative company Huerto San Francisco, from Quillón, now aims to become a company that provides a framework agreement, and in this way, be an option purchasing for state institutions, such as Junaeb, which is currently in the bidding process for school feeding for Ñuble.

“We want to deliver our fourth-range products through a framework agreement and for that, we are working to achieve this accreditation,” said Irene Castillo, partner of the family business that produces and processes vegetables and fruits in Quillón. “For that we have our own production of fruits and vegetables and producers in the sector who provide us with other seasonal products,” said Irene during a visit to the process room, carried out by the deputy national director of Indap, César Rodríguez, the regional director of Indap, Fernanda Azócar, the regional director of Junaeb, Patricia Rubio and their technical teams.

Huerto San Francisco is also certifying to participate in the Sodexo “Local Buyers” program, which opens up new opportunities for growth, for which they must advance in its implementation and certifications, for example, with the nutritional accreditation of their products, the accreditation of good agricultural practices and sanitary resolution, which they have already obtained, while advancing in the implementation of cold chain transportation.

“We have a mandate to move towards more sustainable agriculture and towards more inclusive markets,” commented Fernanda Azócar, who pointed out that they are working in coordination with services such as Junaeb, “because we understand that the volume of food provided to schools and kindergartens , makes it a strategic ally to generate these inclusive markets.”

In this framework, the new tenders have a component that encourages the incorporation of local producers of peasant family agriculture.

The director of Junaeb stressed that the concessionaires are expected to have a commitment with local companies to purchase food for the School Feeding Program. “For that we are coordinating with Indap to establish links with local producers,” she indicated.

“This is a family effort that has been developing, mainly along the path of achieving better quality of the food it produces, using different Indap instruments, since its beginnings,” Rodríguez highlighted, “and now thanks to programs such as Economic Association, is diversifying its offer from fresh to processed products, to enter more demanding markets”
