Tabaski in Bobo-Dioulasso: peace, security and social cohesion at the heart of prayer
Bobo-Dioulasso, (AIB)-The Muslim faithful of Bobo-Dioulasso, like other localities in Burkina Faso, celebrated on Saturday July 9, 2022, the feast of Eid-El-Kébir, at Place Wara -wara. Still called Tabaski, this holiday was marked by prayers for peace, security and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
It was under the incessant threat of rain that the Muslim faithful of Bobo-Dioulasso stormed the places of prayer for the feast of Eid-El-Kébir, on Saturday July 9, 2022.
The “wara wara” square located in the Dioulassoba district has sacrificed to tradition by hosting the prayer led by the great imam of Bobo-Dioulasso, Siaka Sanou.
In his sermon, the imam offered prayers for peace, security and social cohesion. He invited the faithful to promote peace, tolerance, sharing and peaceful coexistence with all members of society.
“The right understanding of Islam is peace, tolerance, peaceful coexistence. May God protect Burkina Faso, the authorities, the defense and security forces (FDS) and reconcile the Burkinabè among themselves”, formulated Siaka Sanou.
As for the governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, Colonel Moussa Diallo, he expressed wishes for health, peace and security to the population of Burkina Faso in general and in particular that of the Hauts-Bassins.
Moussa Diallo called for a sacred union of the country’s sons and daughters in order to overcome the terrorism that bereaves families every day.
“I still take the opportunity to say that it is together, hand in hand, with the help of God that we will overcome these enemies who attack us every day,” added the governor.
According to Ibrahim Sanou, a faithful Muslim, this holiday is an opportunity to multiply prayers so that the country regains its childhood tranquility.
“We implore the Almighty so that Burkina Faso can regain all of its national territory,” he said.
His wish is that the consultations initiated by the authorities can be done in serenity and that the best interests of the nation are put forward.
“We join all our prayers so that our country can know more peace and that each Burkinabe can undertake his activities with serenity for the development of the whole nation”, he underlined.
At the end of the prayer and the sermon, the Grand Imam sacrificed a white ram as a sacrifice for Abraham. After the immolation of the ram, the Muslim faithful returned to their homes to follow in his footsteps.
