On the 19th, four members of the family of former Japanese soldier Ishinosuke Uwano (deceased) from Hirono, who had been evacuated from Ukraine to the town, met with Mayor Masayoshi Okamoto at the town hall. Mr. Ueno’s eldest son’s wife, Rohachova Lena (46), said, “I would like to thank you for all the care. Peace is Ukraine’s number one wish. I hope that the situation will end as soon as possible.”

Mr. Ueno’s eldest daughter, Zychuk Nadja (60), Mr. Rohachoba and his twin boys, Ueno Semyon and Ueno Maxim, both visited the town hall.

Next to the boy’s drawing, Mr. Rohachova talked regarding his gratitude for his support, his happy life in his homeland, and his memories of Mr. Ueno. She said, “Life in Japan is not a problem at the moment. I want to know the culture because it is a completely different country.”
