The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) revealed the chronology of Tia Rahmania and Rahmad Handoyo being canceled as elected members of the DPR. This started with the proven violation of vote inflating.

Tia is a legislative candidate (caleg) from the Banten 1 electoral district (dapil) which includes Lebak-Pandeglang. This started on May 13 2024, the Banten Province Bawaslu decided that 8 PPKs in 8 sub-districts in the Banten 1 electoral district were found guilty.

“Guilty of committing the violation of vote inflating which benefited Tia Rahmania,” said PDIP spokesperson Chico Hakim in a written statement, Thursday (26/9).

Chico did not convey the chronology of the case that happened to Rahmad. Then, on August 14 2024, the party court heard the case of Tia and Rahmad Handoyo from the Central Java V electoral district.

“The party court ruled that both of them were proven to have inflated votes and violated the party’s code of ethics and discipline,” said Chico.

On August 30 2024, the PDIP DPP sent a letter along with the results of the party’s court trial to the General Election Commission (KPU). On September 3 2024, the PDI Perjuangan Ethics Court/Honorary Body heard Tia and Rahmad’s ethical violation case regarding the transfer of party votes to personal votes.

The ethics court found both of them guilty and sentenced them to dismissal. Furthermore, on September 13 2024 the PDIP DPP sent a letter to dismiss Tia and Rahmad to the KPU.

Previously, the Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Honor, Komarudin Watumbun, said that Tia and Rahmad were proven guilty and had shifted their votes. Then, the party court recommended they resign or be dismissed. However, neither Tia nor Rahmad wanted to resign and this resulted in their dismissal.

“We implemented all organizational mechanisms and finally the two of them refused to resign. So that was part of their disobedience to the party court’s decision. The sanction was dismissal,” said Komarudin. (P-5)
