PDIP Celebrates Victory in East Java Regional Elections
Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) expressed flying colors in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, with their supported candidate pairs winning in 21 regions throughout East Java.
Announcing these results, Sri Untari Bisowarno, the Secretary of East Java PDIP DPD, highlighted that this impactful win stemmed from a thorough quick count, covering regional elections in 38 districts/cities across the province.
Out of the total victories, 16 regional heads and deputy regional heads emerged as PDIP cadres.
While also emphasizing this significant win not as solely reliant on party power, Untari attributed the success to the dedicated efforts of PDIP members.
"We are really grateful to the people of East Java for their extraordinary trust. Winning in 21 regions is a big mandate; one we will carry out with full responsibility," Untari said in Surabaya on Friday (29/11).
Notwithstanding their sweeping victory, the path wasn’t without setbacks. Untari addressed challenges in several regions, including the Blitar City Pilkada.
In this area, the PDIP support fell on the pair Bambang Rianto and Bayu Setyo Kuncoro. However, they claim to have found indications of imposed irregularities during the election process, forcing a call to the authorities for a re-election, emphasizing the importance of upholding electoral integrity.
Looking at the gubernatorial race, analyst observation
reveals Tri Rismaharini’s partnership with Zahrul Azhar Asumta (Gus Hans) fell just shy of the target, yet, appreciation is meditated with remarkable effort in the face of a confined campaign period.
"Based on the KPU’s swift count and manual reports, the results are deeply encouraging. In just 2.5 months, Mrs. Risma and Gus Hans have displayed remarkable dedication. While not quite reaching the goal, this groundwork sets a strong foundation for the future," explained Untari.
Dramatic media coverage captured the rise of the incumbent Khofifah Indar Parawansa coupled with Emil Dardak, attributing their sustained victory to a 15-year appointment, showcasing the significance of long-term planning and groundwork.
Untari concluded with a heart-felt message,
"We are grateful to our tireless cadres and volunteers. This triumph culminates months of dedicated collaboration. All members across communities generously campaigned and effectively promoted the PDIP platform."
