The proceedings led by the regional prosecutor of Aysén, Carlos Palma, in the offices of the Regional Government of Ñuble, lasted for nearly seven hours yesterday followingnoon. The procedure occurred in the context of the investigation that Prosecutor Palma, by order of the National Prosecutor’s Office, carries out at the national level, for the so-called Agreements Case, specifically in the ProCultura area and the alleged transfer of funds for nearly $264 million , to the company Esquerré Consultores, for the Binational Meeting, in September 2022, which was held to highlight the existing initiatives to build a new border crossing, between San Fabián and the Las Ovejas sector, in the Argentine province from Neuquen.
Prosecutor Palma, who arrived accompanied by part of the High Complexity Cases investigation team, from the National Prosecutor’s Office, officials from the Anti-Corruption Brigade (Briac) of the metropolitan PDI and the Economic Crimes Brigade (Bridec) of the PDI of the Biobío also ordered parallel seizures in the offices and homes of the owners and representatives of the consulting firm.
After completing his efforts in the Regional Government of Ñuble, the prosecutor declared that “by virtue of court orders we have seized evidence that we understand can serve as a basis for the evidence of the trial.”
Palma specified that among the material seized for future expert reports are “documents, computers and financial information, which is evidently related to the investigation and the entire process.”
The prosecutor, following the procedures carried out at the GORE, confirmed that with regard to the Ñublensino flank of the “ProCultura edge”, crimes of fraud once morest the Treasury and, eventually, influence peddling are being investigated.
Among the tasks that both the prosecutor and the PDI will carry out during this day, other seizures and taking statements are contemplated.
At least until last night, the regional prosecutor of Aysén assured that no statements had been taken, nor were there any arrests.
As the prosecutor acknowledged, these inquiries arise following a suggestion from the Comptroller General of the Republic, following the entity detected certain inconsistencies and irregularities in the contracts signed by the foundation and Esquerré.
Through a press release, the consultant said that she had collaborated fully with the investigations and that they also provided her with documentation proving that The foundation owed them money following the activities carried out in Ñuble.
Despite them, Palma commented regarding the seizures made in company offices, that “we understand that there is also evidence there that is part of the fundamental elements to establish what happened.” The ProCultura foundation made agreements in different regions of the country.
