Pd, women’s revolt against Schlein’s lists. Here’s who goes up and who goes down – Time
Edoardo Romagnoli

The revolt of dem women. Schlein is the first female secretary of the Democratic Party but since she arrived she has made it clear that she is more interested in her women than in the women of the party. And so you first eliminated Serracchiani and Malpezzi as group leaders of the House and Senate respectively. At Palazzo Madama she placed one of the few big names who had supported her: Francesco Boccia, while at Montecitorio she appointed Chiara Braga as head of her group. In the secretariat the situation certainly sees the presence of more women, there are 10 out of 21 places available, but here too Elly has shown herself to be less than inclusive compared to the many souls of the party by mostly bringing in her associates. Then there is the European question. The secretary’s line of wanting to run for third place in all the constituencies, except the islands where she will be the head of the list, and the desire to want only civic names as leaders is, in fact, closing the space for many candidates. The party states that they have “expressed our doubts regarding the possibility of having civic candidates as leaders, perhaps accompanied by the candidacy of the secretary” because “this would not enhance the PD ruling class and would especially penalize female candidates”.

Schlein hunting for votes: the Democratic Party wants to nominate Salis, and Cecchettin reappears

Yesterday in Strasbourg there was a meeting of the Dem delegation, without Elly, precisely to take stock in view of the next European elections. During the summit the topic of the programme, the objectives achieved and what we want to commit to for the future was “addressed”. Furthermore, it is explained, “we have placed the issue of valorising the outgoing people in the position of the list for the work done, for the battles carried out and to give continuity” to the work undertaken in Europe. And among those who risk not being re-elected is Pina Picierno, vice-president of the European Parliament, who Schlein would like in fifth place in the southern constituency following Sandro Ruotolo. But she’s not the only one.

The dem leader would like to nominate Cecilia Strada for the North West, Annalisa Corrado for the North East together with Alessandra Moretti, Alessia Moran and the very faithful Camilla Laureti would find space in the Centre. While in the south Lucia Annunziata should now be certain. But if there are those who go up, there are, consequently, those who go down. Among these: Valeria Fedeli, Roberta Pinotti, Valeria Valente (ostracized in the Democratic Party since they opposed the Zan bill) and, as mentioned, Simona Malpezzi, Lia Quartapelle, Pina Picierno and Debora Serracchiani. If Schlein was supposed to be the women’s secretary, let’s say that she didn’t start off on the right foot.
