Elly Schlein is in the crosshairs but will not jump for the proposal to “support” the CGIL signature collection against the Jobs Act. At the beginning it seemed that the guillotine could fall on the secretary’s head in the event of a disappointing result (under 20%) at the European elections. Then given the polls that show the Dems consistently above, the litmus test will not be so much the overall result as the internal challenges between the candidates close to the leader and those expressing the various currents. Let’s give some examples: in the islands the result of Pietro Bartolo, candidate for secretary, will be measured against that of Antonio Nicita, near Letta, and Giuseppe Lupo, from the Franceschini area. Just as in the south the leader’s trident: Lucia Annunziata, Sandro Ruotolo and Jasmine Cristallo will have to deal with Antonio Decaro, Pina Picierno and Lello Topo, close to Emiliano. At the Center the challenge sees the secretary directly on the field together with Marco Tarquinio (the electoral campaign begins today in Rome) against the couple of mayors Dario Nardella and Matteo Ricci.

The Dem leader’s latest proposal against the Jobs Act has sparked internal discontent especially among the reformists, Madia and Guerini first and foremost, but the various caciques will not fight over it. There is no doubt that it is yet another proposal from a secretary who has no memory of the history of her party, given that the Jobs act was wanted and voted for by the Democratic Party, but one certainly cannot accuse her of a lack of coherence . The abolition of the Jobs Act was in the motion with which you won the primaries against Bonaccini. But there is also another element. Attacking Schlein on the proposal to abolish the Jobs Act would give her the alibi to be able to blame a possible defeat or even just a disappointing result in Europe on a minority that, instead of rowing together with the whole party, spent the electoral campaign attacking her. And this is also the reason why, apart from a few declarations against the collection of signatures, the reformists will not take any concrete action to boycott or even just hinder the “anti Jobs Act” initiative.
