PCOS, the great forgotten of women’s health » PACA’s economic and political letter

PCOS, but what do these 4 letters mean? PCOS is the acronym for polycystic ovary syndrome.

This hormonal imbalance affects approximately 10 to 15% of women in France. This disease is currently one of the leading causes of female fertility disorders. Yet, PCOS is little or not known to the general public. To advance women’s health, Solène and Eva Lecoq, two sisters created SOVA to help women with PCOS.

Sova is a brand of food supplements 100% dedicated to women affected by PCOS. The two sisters also and above all have the ambition to free speech on this syndrome, to inform and to create a community that helps each other so that no woman feels alone in the face of the diagnosis.

Solène and Eva are two sisters both affected by PCOS.

For Eva, PCOS started with her first period at age 14, but it wasn’t until she was 22 that she was officially diagnosed and understood what PCOS is. As a teenager, Eva did not have regular cycles, gained weight and had hair problems. She consults a gynecologist to understand what is happening. The professional immediately prescribes a hormonal pill. With the taking of the drug, Eva’s cycles become regular, but what she was not told at the time was that these false periods are only the illusion of a “cycle”.

Although the symptoms of PCOS are easing, the young woman nevertheless maintains a complicated relationship with her body, which results in TCAs (behavioral eating disorder). After 4 years, she decides to stop the pill. Her periods disappear. The ultrasound prescribed by her gynecologist reveals that Eva has polycystic ovaries, however, the health professional strongly advises her to continue the pill without officially indicating her diagnosis and explaining to her what it is.

Years pass and Eva discovers, somewhat by chance on the net, a testimony from a PCOS woman: she immediately recognizes all her symptoms, and makes a first diagnosis for the first time. From then on, she follows health professionals who confirm what she thinks and accompany her in the disease.

For Solène, PCOS appears later and results mainly in anovulatory cycles accompanied by hormonal acne and a little hirsutism. Her sister’s diagnosis prompted her to confirm what she already thought: just like Eva, she has PCOS.

At the beginning of this adventure, there is the desire pegged to the body of Eva and Solène to improve their symptoms related to PCOS thanks to “natural” solutions, without synthetic hormones.

In August 2021, following the discontinuation of Eva’s dietary supplement prescribed by a health professional, everything accelerated: “We just have to make one ourselves, and even better! says Solène.

Dedicated PCOS food supplements

To understand if this supplement might help the people concerned, for nearly a year, the two entrepreneurs created via Sova, content on the Instagram and Tiktok networks to share, raise awareness and provide solutions to all those who need it. . Every day the community is growing. Success is on the way. “By the end of 2023, we will reach more than 100,000 women on our social networks,” rejoices Eva, who wants to support as many people as possible.

In June 2022, with the help of many professionals (expert firm in bioengineering, naturopaths, micro-nutritionists and doctors of pharmacy), Sova is launching two hormone-free food supplements to meet the specific needs of women affected by PCOS.

The Ovastart supplement, is a supplement for the support of hormonal and menstrual health that promotes the regulation and balance of hormones. As for the Balance your sugars supplement, it helps maintain glycemic balance, promote the elimination of toxins, reduce inflammation and help fight once morest oxidative stress.

A strong commitment to women’s health that makes SOVA a unique company.
