PCDR in Bastogne: “A fruitful participatory tool in terms of rural development”

The current PCDR has come to an end. The mayor, Benoît Lutgen, and the alderman of Rurality, Bertrand Moinet, draw up a positive assessment. In fact, over the last 10 years, the CLDR has met 38 times and has been able to carry out 36 projects, including the creation of the village house in Arloncourt and the development of the Bûcher de Lutrebois. 15 projects are still ongoing.

”In terms of the economy, two priority objectives have been defined: supporting the self-employed in a social dynamic and supporting the agricultural world for the processing and sale of produce. The creation of an agricultural relay hall will make it possible to meet these objectives”, emphasizes Benoît Lutgen.

This hall, a real center for promoting local agricultural products, will include a kitchen for communities, a meat and milk processing workshop, and a space for the direct sale of artisanal products to individuals.

Developed in partnership with the Municipalities of Bertogne, Fauvillers, Tenneville, Sainte-Ode and Vaux-sur-Sûre, the project will promote local producers, in particular through the organization of markets for local products. The total investment of 2.5 million euros will be partly subsidized by the Walloon Region. Work will begin in the coming months.

In terms of mobility, the development of Place de Bourcy, scheduled for 2024, is one of CLDR’s projects. Estimated at nearly 850,000 euros, the square will include shared and pedestrian spaces, lined with trees, a barbecue area and services for cyclists.

Energy remains at the heart of the CLDR’s debates. In particular, it participated in the implementation of the Sustainable Energy – Climate Action Plan, the objective of which is to position Bastogne as an exemplary municipality in the field of energy, in particular by achieving carbon neutrality in the best time limit.

While some files were put on hold during the health crisis, several projects for the development of public spaces are still under consideration, such as the creation of village squares in Marvie, Moinet, Mageret. Having reached the end of its 10 years of existence, the current PCDR must be renewed. It will be with Bertogne as part of the merger of the two municipalities.
