Thiruvananthapuram: Former MLA PC George, who was remanded by the court for hate speech, is lodged in Poojappura Central Jail. George is in room D in the hospital block where R Balakrishna Pillai, MV Jayarajan and former IG K Lakshmana were staying. The High Court today adjourned the hearing of the bail petition.
At 5.40pm, George was transferred from the District Jail to the Central Jail. After being examined by the jail medical officer and confirmed to have no significant health problems, the jail chief directed the transfer to the Central Jail. Dinner for the prisoners was completed in the evening, and food was prepared for George.
George, who was brought to Thiruvananthapuram from Kochi following midnight on Wednesday, was produced before the chambers of the first class magistrate at 7.30 am yesterday. When the court asked him if he was afraid of being beaten by the police, he replied, “I am not afraid of anything.” Asked if he had been beaten by the police, he said, “No.” The court remanded George for 14 days for violating bail.
According to the police remand report, there was a conspiracy in the speech made at the Vennala temple in Ernakulam. He asked for time to submit a detailed report and to be remanded in custody for further investigation. The matter will be considered on Monday. George’s lawyer said police were trying to hunt him down. George told the media that he was ready to go to jail.
