The special committee formed by the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) which manages the organization’s relationship with the National Awakening Party (PKB) has again invited related parties for questioning, namely PKB Secretary General Hasanuddin Wahid to the PBNU Office, Jakarta, Monday (5/8).
“Indeed, today we are launching an invitation for him. There are many people we will invite,” said Deputy Secretary General of PBNU Imron Rosyadi Hamid in a statement received in Jakarta today.
Yesterday, former PKB Secretary General Muhammad Lukman Edy met with the special committee that handles relations between PBNU and PKB to explore the problems between the two organizations.
“Basically, PBNU has a strong desire to know the real substance of the NU and PKB issue, so that in the last few years, since the presidential election, the NU Congress in Lampung, there has been a bad relationship and communication between PBNU and PKB,” said Lukman at the PBNU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (31/7).
Previously, the General Chairman of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya would send two kiai to resolve the problem between PBNU and PKB, namely Deputy Rais Aam PBNU KH Anwar Iskandar and Deputy General Chairman of PKB Amin Said Husni.
“The plenary session gave a mandate to two people, the first being Kiai Anwar Iskandar, Deputy Rais Aam, and Mr. Amin Said Husni, Deputy General Chairperson, to study this problem and then provide recommendations to PBNU regarding the steps that must be taken,” concluded Gus Yahya.
However, PKB rejected two clerics sent by PBNU who were assigned to resolve the PKB and NU problems. PKB considered the two clerics irrelevant and their presence could be considered as intervention in political parties.

“That PKB, all PKB ranks solidly reject any attempt to intervene in the party’s sovereignty,” said Deputy General Chairperson of the PKB DPP Jazilul Fawaid to journalists at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/7).
According to him, what really needs to be evaluated are the leaders of PBNU, in this case the general chairman and secretary general, Yahya Cholil Staquf and Saifullah Yusuf.
“What caused the chaos was to stop it because it did not conform to the moral standards of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah, it did not conform to the moral standards of the ulama,” concluded Gus Jazil.

Practical politics
Today, the protesters calling themselves the Gus Dur Santri Alliance are demanding that Gus Yahya resign from the management of the institution he leads.
“Because Gus Yahya in this case as the general chairman during the Lampung Congress (in 2021) consolidated Gus Dur’s ideology of struggle to improve Nahdlatul Ulama in the future, but in fact today it is counterproductive, even tends to violate, violate the results of the congress,” said the Coordinator of the Gus Dur Santri Alliance Sues Muhammad Solihin during the action in front of the PBNU Office, Jakarta.
Solihin also said that Gus Yahya must step down because he is suspected of being involved in practical politics. “And what is very painful is interfering in other people’s affairs, other people’s households, who say they are not involved in practical politics, but instead today we are being shown with the PBNU’s decision to form an investigation team.
