Payment via Pix is preferred among Brazilians

Launched by the Central Bank in October 2020, Pix has already established itself as Brazilians’ favorite means of payment. This is what the Carat Insights survey, carried out by Fiserv, in September 2022 points out. Of the 600 participants, 86% opt for instant payment, the same percentage of those who choose to use a credit and debit card inserted in the machine. Payment in cash is the choice of 84% of respondents.

The data also reveal that the use of Pix is preferred among different socioeconomic levels (A, 84%; B, 87%; and C, 86%); age groups (18-36 years old, 86%; 31-45 years old, 86%; 46 or older, 85%), and regions of the country (Northeast, 86%; Southeast, 86%; and others, 85%).

When choosing a payment method, respondents listed security (72%), speed (60%) and discounts (58%) as the main reasons. Pix is the preferred means of payment due to its practicality (43%), because it is not necessary to carry cash (28%) and due to its speed (15%), answered the participants.

For TCHPAY’s Commercial Director, Gracielle Guimarães, Pix has revolutionized payment methods in all financial spheres. “In the corporate universe, it is already possible to use Pix even for corporate awards. Transaction costs are extremely low and the payment method is secure and fast. The PIX Premium product is an example of how to do this type of operation,” she explains.

Still according to the survey, when asked regarding payment methods used in the near future, Pix is the most attractive for 93% of participants. Likewise, digital means of payment should remain preferred over the next ten years, whether by Pix (87%), digital wallet (80%) and payment by QR Code reading (78%).

“Pix is a massively used instrument in financial transactions. It represents safety, agility and speed. Betting on it as a form of corporate reward is a natural step”, concludes the Director of TCHPAY.
