The government of Nicolás Maduro announced on Monday, July 22, the payment of the bonus “Against the Economic War“for pensioners through the Patria System, according to the X account (formerly Twitter) of Bonos Protectores Social Al Pueblo.
Pensioners will receive payment information via text message from phone number 3532.
The “Economic War” bond is worth 1,640 bolivars, equivalent to 44.80 dollars, according to the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) rate for July 22, which was 36.60 bolivars.
What is it enough for?
The subsidy is enough to buy the eight food products included in the Petara Basket, which is valued at 1,523 bolivars or 41.61 dollars, according to the Venezuelan Financial Observatory (OVF).
The OVF basket prices correspond to week 26 of 2024 and were consulted between July 23 and 29.
Below are the products from the Petare Basket:
-A carton of 30 eggs: 180 bolivars or 4.91 dollars
-A package of corn flour: 48 bolivars or 1.31 dollars
-A kilo of white cheese: 190 bolivars or 5.19 dollars
-One kilogram of meat: 320 bolivars or 8.74 dollars
-A packet of coffee: 480 bolivars or 13.11 dollars
-A package of rice: 65 bolivars or 1.77 dollars
-One liter of oil: 175 bolivars or 4.78 dollars
-A packet of sugar: 65 bolivars or 1.77 dollars
However, the “Economic War” bonus is insufficient for a pensioner to meet the basic needs of food, personal hygiene and home cleaning, since it only covers 7.59% of the basic family basket.
The basket, for a family of five, cost 590 dollars, according to the Documentation and Social Analysis Center of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM).
A pensioner needs at least a deposit of 13 “Economic War” bonds to buy the 61 products in the basket, which include food, personal hygiene and cleaning products.
How to collect the “Against Economic War” bonus?
Pensioners who receive this payment will be informed via text message from the number 3532 and through the veMonedero application.
To collect the funds, users must log in to the Patria platform, go to “wallet” and then select “withdraw funds.”
Click on the wallet of origin, amount and destination of the funds, then click on “continue” and then select “accept”.
Once this procedure is completed, the system will display on the screen that the operation was successful.
