1st Bundestag decides on self-determination law
With the Self-Determination Act, a simple declaration to the registry office would be enough to change your gender entry and first name in your passport.
Speech act is enough: The transgender law is more than 40 years old. Anyone who wants to change their gender in their passport must obtain two expensive psychiatric reports and go through a lengthy process. The Federal Constitutional Court had criticized parts of this procedure several times. With the Self-Determination Act, which is being voted on in the Bundestag today, one speech act would be enough to change the gender entry and first name at the registry office.
