Paying Sadaqat al-Fitr in cash is against the Sunnah, Saudi Grand Mufti – Life & Style

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and the Chairman of the Council of Great Scholars Al-Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh says that paying Sadaqat al-Fitr in cash is once morest the Sunnah.

Note that Sadaqat al-Fitr is paid in cash across Pakistan, and the majority usually pay just before the Eid prayer, although Sadaqat al-Fitr can be paid any time before the Eid prayer.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Grand Mufti said that ‘Sadaqat al-Fitr is given to human food from wheat, rice, raisins and barley among other things. Muslims pay Sadaqat al-Fitr before sunset on the last day of Ramadan, but Sadaqat al-Fitr can be paid one or two days before Eid.

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia said that ‘Sadaqat al-Fitr is obligatory on all Muslims, men, women, old, young, free, and slaves. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prescribed sadaqat al-fitr in the form of one saa of dates or one saa of barley in Ramadan. It is obligatory on young children, old people, men and women, free and Muslim slave’.
