Starting TODAY, July 1, the electricity company will stop sending the well-known consumption notice on the bill in printed form. There will no longer be any more “current bills” or consumption receipts, as they are also known in some parts of the island.
In late June, an automatic message sent to customers of the Electric Company who paid for their service electronically last month generated “doubts and concerns,” according to a report by the Escambray newspaper in Sancti Spíritus.
The message stated that starting in July, users would no longer receive the bill consumption notice in printed format, suggesting that they consult digital payment platforms to obtain this information.

According to Darío Peña Cuenca, commercial director of the Sancti Spíritus Electric Company, the paper bill will only be eliminated for “those customers who already received their electricity bill every month via email and who we have in our database.”
According to the official, the printing and distribution of traditional paper invoices represents a significant expense for the company. The high costs of the necessary materials and models, coupled with the country’s financial constraints, have made the current system unsustainable.

Given the shortage of paper at UNE and changes in the way electricity bills are sent, many are wondering how to pay for electricity now. There are more changes, depending on the province.
For example, in Sancti Spíritus, there will be changes in the presentation of electricity bills. Some customers will receive the notice on paper with blue letters, while others will receive it in orange.
