Eight employees of the Eternit factory will lose their jobs at the end of the year
To the chagrin of the Unia union, Swisspearl Suisse SA, owner of the Broyard site, did not want to review its strategy. At the end of 2023, the firm will consolidate its activities in Niederurnen (GL).

After 66 years of existence, the Payer Eternit factory will close its doors.
24 HOURS
Some 80 employees of the Eternit factory, in Payerne (VD), will find themselves unemployed. Swisspearl Suisse SA, owner of the site, has confirmed its decision to centralize its activities in Niederurnen (GL). The intervention of the Unia Vaud union did nothing: the Broyard factory, which produces garden furniture in particular, will close its doors at the end of the year, as announced in May, reports “24 heures “.
In a press release quoted by the daily, Swisspearl affirms that it wants to “ensure the competitiveness of the company and compensate for the recession which is beginning in the construction sector and which has already clearly made itself felt in the turnover of the second quarter 2023”. According to the company, a social plan is currently being negotiated. But Unia Vaud fears a discount plan, the staff representatives participating in the discussions being in large majority of the employees of the Niederurnen factory, therefore not directly concerned by the closure of the Paynois site.
