The developers and publishers of Payday 3 have officially been confirmed, by the main interested parties.

The output of Payday 3 looks more and more like an Arlesian, since this is the third time already that the game has been announced. But this time we have the official confirmation of who will do it!

Who develops, who publishes?

Payday 3 will therefore indeed be developed by Overkill Software and will be published by Starbreeze Studios AB et Prime Matter, a division of Plaion (formerly Koch Media) opened in June 2021. Via tweets, the various parties confirmed that the development of the new heist game was well and truly underway. As a reminder, we had heard regarding the project for a while via various rumours.

Cryptocurrencies and Big Brother on the agenda

Indeed, Payday 3 was first announced when Starbreeze bought the rights to the license in 2016. He was once more when Koch Media was added to the project in 2021. With these new tweets, both from the development studio and from one of the publishers, we imagine that the project is on track. From early rumors and information, it looks like Payday 3 will mostly take place in New York in the 2020sunlike the first two episodes which took place in the 2010s. Thus, our robbers will find themselves facing much greater security, via the mass surveillance. They should also seek to steal not only money in the “classic” way as they did before, but also cryptocurrencies. Note that Payday 3 should get you back the characters from the first game, Dallas, Chains, Wolf and Hoxton.

Payday 3 does not yet have an official release date, but might be released next year according to several rumors. If images have already been published, no video has yet presented the game. The trailer at the top of the page is from Payday 2, for illustration purposes.
