Pakistan‘s caretaker minister for IT, Dr. Umar Saif, says that soon the facility of buying mobile phones on contract basis or in installments is being brought in the country.
While holding a press conference along with caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad on Wednesday, caretaker IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif said that the number of mobile users in Pakistan is high but people cannot buy expensive phones.
He said that many people in Pakistan use phones, but they are cheap phones, because buying a phone worth 80,000, 200,000 or 300,000 is not within the reach of everyone.
He said that ‘for this we are bringing a mobile phone scheme on contract basis or in installments along with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).’
According to him, under this scheme, people will now be able to buy mobile phones on installments.

Explaining it, he said that the most important thing was that if someone does not pay the installment, what will happen? ‘So the mechanism has been made for this that if someone does not pay the installment, the mobile phone will be blocked.’
A policy has been made and a procedure has also been made in this regard, which is called cell phone financing. Now people can easily buy phones on installments and the market of high end mobile phones will also increase in Pakistan.
According to Dr. Umar Saif, Pakistan is currently the seventh largest mobile phone market in the world. He says that there are about 12 to 13 crore mobile phones in use in Pakistan.
