Pay if you want more! Twitter limits the number of DMs that unverified users can send

Twitter will start limit the amount of direct messages (DMs) that unverified users can send. The information was confirmed by the platform’s official support account this Friday.

The company’s official justification is that the measure is being implemented to reduce the amount of spam. However, users who pay for the Blue plan will be able to continue sending unlimited DMs.

That is, the limitation is yet another “incentive” by Twitter for its users to pay for the Blue plan.

We’ll be rolling out some changes soon in our effort to reduce spam in Direct Messages. Unverified accounts will have daily limits on the number of DMs they can send. Sign up today to send more messages.

As much as the speech is aimed at reducing the amount of Spam, this is yet another attempt by Elon Musk to make Twitter make a profit. This is evident when noting that in the tweet announcing the limit there is a link so that users can pay for Blue.

The phrase “Sign up today to send more messages” also “receipts”.

For now, the social network does not inform when the limit will begin to be implemented.

Last week, Twitter changed the way it receives DMs, so verified users you follow will have your messages in their main inbox. Already those verified that the user does not follow go to the “message request” box.

Since the setting was automatically applied to everyone with an open DM, it ended up disabling the ability for people who don’t pay for Blue to send messages to others.

Unless the user knows how to use the settings and activate the option that allows anyone to send a message request, something that was not disclosed by the social network.
