An exceptional crowd is expected this weekend and next week thanks to the good weather forecast. Campsites, like hotels, have a high occupancy rate. This trend will likely continue into next week, with the July 21 long weekend.
Westtoer advises people wanting to enjoy the beach to check the Coastal Barometer, which shows how crowded certain beach areas are, especially next weekend, as a high tide will occur between 3 and 5 p.m. Which means there will be less space on the beach.
“Only a limited part of the beach will be available at this time and the water levels will also be very high at high tide,” Westtoer told Nieuwsblad. “People who have already settled on the beach during the day, near the waterline, must take into account that they will have to leave their place when the tide rises”.
The West Flanders Intermunicipal Rescue Service (IKWV) once once more calls on the population to follow the instructions of the rescuers and to swim only in supervised areas.
