Follow up – Ali Mualla:

Hormonal disorders occur when a large percentage or a small amount of the hormone is secreted into the bloodstream. Given the basic role of hormones in the body, any change, even a small change in the level of hormones in the blood, can lead to a significant imbalance in the functions of the body.

As for the most important symptoms that tell you regarding hormonal imbalance in your body, they are:

1. Constantly gaining weight.

If you are constantly gaining weight even with a healthy diet and exercise, the cause is likely to be resistance to the hormone insulin.

It is a physiological condition in which the response of cells to the hormone insulin is less than normal, which causes an increase in the level of sugar in the blood, and weight gain due to a decrease in the burning rate. Hypothyroidism is also associated with an increase in weight.

2. Insomnia and sleep disturbances.

Hormonal imbalances may be the cause of your recent insomnia, especially thyroid dysfunction.

The progesterone secreted by the ovary also helps you sleep normally, so if you feel insomnia, the cause may be a low level of progesterone.

3. Excessive sweating.

If you suffer from excessive sweating and some hot flashes, hormones may play a role in this, as the low level of estrogen causes increased sweating and a feeling of body heat, especially during sleep.

4. Loss of sexual desire.

It is one of the most obvious signs of hormonal disorder. The imbalance of sex hormones, especially estrogen, and hypothyroidism may be the main reason behind the loss of sexual desire.

5. Binge eating.

Constant desire to eat even following reaching the stage of satiety may be a sign of hormonal disorder, the most important of which is the imbalance of the thyroid and adrenal glands.

6. Irregular menstruation.

The period between each cycle and the next ranges from 21 to 35 days, and the delay or absence of a period for more than two consecutive months and the repetition of the matter several times, may indicate a disturbance in the level of the hormones estrogen and progesterone you have.
