Pavel Sivakov’s Impressive Performance in Montreal Grand Prix and Tour of Tuscany

Pavel Sivakov is in great shape. Second in the Montreal Grand Prix on Sunday behind (already) a rider from UAE Team Emirates, the team he will join next year, then solo winner of the Tour of Tuscany on Wednesday, the Frenchman from Ineos-Grenadiers was still in the fight for victory on Thursday in the final of the Coppa Sabatini, an event played in the province of Pisa. But he might not resist the Swiss puncher Marc Hirschi, who beat him by several lengths on the line.

Hirschi, former winner of the Flèche Wallonne, made the decisive attack 37 km from the finish, during the last pass on the Muro di Peccioli (0.8 km at 10.9%). Only Sivakov managed to follow him, with difficulty, while Tadej Pogacar, teammate and leader of Hirschi at UAE Team Emirates, was responsible for preventing the pursuers – the Frenchman Guillaume Martin (4th), the Kazakh Aleksey Lutsenko (5th) – from reglue. The rest of the peloton arrived more than two minutes later.

50

This is Hirschi’s 6th victory of 2023 and UAE Team Emirates’ 50th. This is the first time that Tadej Pogacar’s team has reached this symbolic milestone. Only Jumbo-Visma is doing better this season (61).
