.Written with the left hand is a series of weekly columns by Paulina MATYSIAK. The author discusses topics related to, among others: with housing, the flood crisis or the current political situation in the country.
In the text “Testament of a militant democracy” Paulina MATYSIAK writes that “yesterday PiS acted as if there was no tomorrow. Today, PO is behaving as if there was no tomorrow. For now, the announced depisization of the state is limited to the pisization of the Platform. He adds that “The fight to shape the law in Poland has started to resemble a series: it is divided into seasons. The law was different when PiS was in power, and it is different when PO is in power and Andrzej Duda is president. It is not difficult to guess that if a president from PO appears in the next episodes, the problem of countersignature and the president’s competences will magically disappear. However, I am afraid that a series conducted this way cannot have a happy ending.
.In the column entitled “Instead of the Ministry of Development and Technology, we have the Ministry of Developers and Landlords in Poland” Paulina MATYSIAK writes that “if someone sees hidden forces that secretly rule the country from the shadows, they should look away from the mafia, services and lodges and towards developers. It doesn’t matter who is in power, the developer lobby always pursues its own interests. He makes sure that there are no losses on the solutions introduced, he encourages them to pay extra because the added funds will go to their accounts.
The MP argues that “if country does not intervene seriously, the housing crisis will not be solved. No private investor will take pity on those who earn less and reduce the price per meter. The market will not regulate itself. If this were the case, there would be no problem with access to housing. And the problem is…”
“I often write and talk about the polarization between PO and PiS. As you can see, when a secret power in the form of the Development Republic comes into play, both parties have no problems working together and speaking with one voice. Polarization is for you, ladies and gentlemen. Agreeing and acting for the common (and in this case, primarily, our own) good is for developers,” writes Paulina MATYSIAK.
.In the article “Liberal thinking doesn’t work in a crisis” The author is convinced that “it is necessary to understand that the infrastructure built today will respond to the challenges emerging in the coming decades. The Racibórz Dolny reservoir saved Wrocław. Investments such as CPK or a nuclear power plant may help survive the crisis and save Poland in many years.
“The oft-repeated truism that you can’t win against nature is, at most, an ideological basis for inaction. An efficient state is there to anticipate threats and mitigate their effects,” says Paulina MATYSIAK.
He adds that “the substitute for the state is not the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, but the substitute for the prime minister is Jerzy Owsiak. And that the state has the means and opportunities to help the injured. For this purpose, he does not have to call for help from an organization that does not have even a fraction of his budget.
“Liberal thinking has accustomed us to the fact that systemic state activity can be replaced by individual heart reflexes. However, we must remember that wealth and security are provided by an efficient state, and not by relying on the solidarity of ordinary people,” writes Paulina MATYSIAK.
Postcards with history
.The “Everything Most Important” also includes the series “Postcards with History” by Paulina MATYSIAK. So far, 29 episodes have been released.
“Today, postcards are a rarity and rarity. Most people who open their mailboxes take out bills and advertising leaflets. A postcard is something unusual, a tribute to old times. Each postcard carries a story – sometimes about the place from which it was sent, sometimes it is the story of the person who sends the card. Every postcard I receive makes me stop for a moment and take my thoughts somewhere else,” writes Paulina MATYSIAK.
“Today I will tell you the story of Leopold Hawelka, who, together with his wife – Josefine, founded Café Hawelka. It became one of the most famous Viennese cafés, compared to Les Deux Magots or Café de Flore in Paris. Café Hawelka was opened in 1939, but after only a year of operation it had to be closed – the owner, Leopold, was drafted into the Wehrmacht. After his happy return (he survived the battles for Stalingrad), the café was reopened. It was a difficult time for Austria, which was divided into four occupation zones and also struggled with many economic and economic problems. No wonder Café Hawelka was a haven for artists and intellectuals. The café celebrated its triumphs in the 1950s and 1960s,” writes the author.
