The midfielder of the France team and Juventus Turin Paul Pogba decided to have surgery on his right knee, two and a half months before the start of the World Cup (November 20-December 18 in Qatar), Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri announced on Monday.
“Pogba went out this morning to train but he stopped and decided to have surgery,” said Allegri, on the eve of the meeting against PSG in the Champions League. Affected in the knee in July, Pogba had, at first, decided not to have surgery to keep his chances of competing in the World Cup intact.
The France and Juventus star had just returned to racing at the Turin club’s training grounds on Sunday after suffering a “lateral meniscus injury” to his right knee.
At the beginning of August, the decision was taken not to operate on the player, at the risk that he would still be embarrassed by this injury, in particular to avoid making him miss the World Cup. The choice fell on a “conservative therapy” of “five weeks”, comprising a first part in the swimming pool and gymnasium and a second with athletic work on the ground.
