The British artist thanked the singer for her “magnificent cover” of the Beatles’ hit on her new album released on March 29.

“I am very happy”. On Instagram, Paul McCartney praised Beyoncé for her cover of the Beatles’ hit Blackbird on her new album Cowboy Carter, released on March 29.

“I think she sang it beautifully and it reinforces the message regarding civil rights that inspired me to write this song. I think Beyoncé did a wonderful cover and I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t haven’t heard it yet,” he said in an Instagram post.

“I spoke to her on FaceTime and she thanked me for writing the song and letting her cover it. I told her the pleasure was all mine and that I thought she did a great version of the song,” he continues.

“Ease racial tensions”

For the second act of her Renaissance musical trilogy, Beyoncé paid homage to her Texan roots with 27 pieces that give pride of place to country, a very popular musical genre in the United States, generally associated, despite its African-American origins , to white artists.

Among the songs on Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé has some surprises in store for her fans such as a cover of the song Blackbird, composed by Paul McCartney in 1968 for the White Album.

A choice which is however not trivial since the singer alludes to nine black teenagers who became icons of the civil rights movement by joining a high school reserved for white students, during the era of segregation in the South of the United States. .

“When I saw on television, in the early 1960s, the images of young black girls being expelled from school, I found it shocking and I cannot believe that even today, this kind of things happen in certain places,” assures Paul McCartney on Instagram.

And to conclude: “Anything that my song and Beyoncé’s fabulous version can do to ease racial tensions is a great thing and makes me very proud.”
