Paul Magnette re-elected as PS president with 93.5% of the vote

The participation rate for these internal elections is 33.8%, “the best rate for many years”, said the PS in a press release.

In October 2019, Magnette was elected for the first time as president of the Socialist Party with 95.4% of the vote. He then succeeded Elio Di Rupo.

”The ambition of the PS is to arrive at the 2024 elections with a strong, vigorously progressive project capable of meeting the expectations of the population. Social progress, the defense of achievements and the climate transition will be at the heart of our programs”, underlined the party.

“Wherever we are represented, we will continue to fight to reduce injustice and inequality,” added the PS in its press release.

Its next two congresses will be devoted to equality between women and men, next April, and youth, in October.

Thomas Dermine re-elected to the presidency of the Regional Federation of the PS of Charleroi

The Secretary of State for Recovery and Strategic Investments, Thomas Dermine, has been re-elected as President of the Regional Federation of the PS of Charleroi, said the latter on Saturday.

Dermine had taken over the presidency ad interim following the resignation of the alderman of Charleroi Babette Jandrain, in February 2022, for private reasons.

The only candidate to succeed him, he was elected for a four-year term by PS activists who voted on Friday and Saturday.
