This controversy happens in the news a little different, the rupture of the sanitary cordon in the media by Georges-Louis Bouchez last week on the VRT. Paul Magnette acknowledges having been clear with the president of the MR. “We had to make a point, we did it” he throws. And the first socialist to recall the benefits of the device: “We had to say twenty years later that we must resume our commitments not to discuss with the far right. Because it is a success. We do not have, in Wallonia and Brussels, any ‘far right thanks to the sanitary cordon policy“. And also to salute the role of the media. “While we have Marine Le Pen in the first round in France (and 40% in the 2nd) and the Vlaams Belang first in the polls in Flanders. This policy, which consists in not leaving the field to the far right , it works and we must reaffirm it” insists Paul Magnette.
We do not have, in Wallonia and Brussels, an extreme right thanks to the sanitary cordon policy
Paul Magnette enjoins the French-speaking liberals to reapprove the initial pact of 2002 (signed at the time between the 4 main French-speaking parties of the time, namely the liberals, the socialists, the cdH and Ecolo), rewritten by the PS, Ecolo and the Engaged. Paul Magnette also invites the PTB and Défi to sign it as well.
