Paul Magnette lodged a complaint with the Flemish Council for Journalistic Ethics following the publication of an interview in Dag Allemaal. According to the president of the PS, his remarks relayed in the interview are not correct. The published interview had aroused many political reactions a few days ago, mainly in the north of the country.
Mr. Magnette then went there with a joke mocking the clichés between Walloons and Flemings and in particular the inclination of part of the Walloons to like to enjoy life. “I try to defuse conflicts with humor but I have to see that it works less and less“, commented Mr. Magnette, questioned this Sunday by Pascal Vrebos on RTL TVI.
Mr. Magnette felt that pieces of sentences spoken by him had been glued together, and/or paraphrased. “I filed a complaint with the Flemish journalistic ethics council because there is an obvious misuse of my remarks. The only thing I’m trying to do is to say on the contrary that systematically pitting the Flemings once morest the Walloons is the poison of this country and that we must try to understand that we have much more in common“.
