We know you as an alderman and a little less as a “performer”, when did your passion for singing date?

“It’s been more than 10 years since I discovered that I might sing. I was a fan of theater and singing came later. I am passionate regarding the spoken arts. I also have a baccalaureate in theater and I am preparing my master’s degree at the Brussels Conservatory.”

Why participate in such a show?

“The first time I did it was as a challenge and I got hooked over time. Even if it doesn’t show at first glance, it takes work. I know 600 songs by heart, it seems a lot but it is not uncommon to meet candidates who know more than 1,000. There is no room for approximation and hesitation in which case it is direct elimination. go there, the least free time was devoted to the study of songs. Luckily I have an excellent memory so sometimes twice I know the song but there are some that do not want to go in or that I always have had in the ear with words that have nothing to do with it. Before arriving on the set there is a long way with questions in all directions. This time, I even almost did not participate because my friends and I We were stuck in the hotel elevator with no one from the technical department to get us out. Despite everything, there is some apprehension as to what people will say. But hey, we have a life and passions outside of our political mandate and I think singing and participating in a TV show remains light and good-natured.

Do you find it more impressive to take the oath as alderman or sing next to Nagui?

“Even if for singing there is a kind of stage fright, I find Paul Magnette more impressive than Nagui. ‘pledge yourself, people rely on us to advance matters. There is also no room for error although we are human. To be faced with Paul Magnette to take an oath is a heavy thing of commitment. We have a real weight on our shoulders. You have to be worthy of the voters and the team.”

Is a conversion possible?

“I really like what I do and, although I manage eight subjects, it is fascinating. As far as possible, I would like to continue my work during the next term of office because some things take longer. It is true that ‘as a passionate I would also like to give theater lessons and it is not impossible to combine the two. Nagui also joked to know if I had ambitions to become mayor (Editor’s note mayor in France) in instead of Paul Magnette.”

Will you campaign while singing?

“Why not! You have to know how to stand out. In addition to being “judged” on my balance sheet at the end of my mandate, you also have to be original. Even if politics is something to be taken seriously, you don’t have to take yourself seriously all the time.”
