Carnival crews are in danger of running out of floats this year, as their efforts hit a… wall!
As is known following removal of crews from ASO in 2020amid quarantine due to covid, the crews who dwelt there and made their chariots, they are left on the road. Efforts to find new hosting and creation space fell into the void one following the other, as a result that a solution has not been given.
So, except for the floats that the Municipality of Patreon is expected to bring to the paradesthere is o danger of not seeing crewed chariots who do not have their own space to create them. And indeed, we are talking regarding crews that come out in front of the parade and that convey the image of the Patronus Carnival throughout Greece through the live broadcasts of ERT. What will be the result? For sure, the image that the Patrinos Carnival will present will be more “poor”as it is known that the carnival crews create special floats that steal the impressions every year.
But what regarding this year? At the beginning of the week, according to information from pelop.gr, the crews were informed that they cannot do any work at the Carnival Workshop in Petrotos, so they can complete their chariots. Yes, they are not allowed to work outside Petrotos either. There are quite a few crews who have started construction and need a bigger space to “assemble” their creations. As it seems, this probably won’t be possible either.
So with the exception of some – few – crews who have their own creation space or are served by corresponding spaces, the majority of them, and remember that we are talking regarding the crews that go out at the beginning of the parade, they may be forced this year not to present a chariot. Not because they don’t want to, but because they simply can’t and aren’t allowed to.
We will see what will happen in the next few days. Besides, let’s not forget that the peak of the Patron Carnival is just a few days away.
