At the microphone of BFM Business, the candidate for the presidency of the Medef Patrick Martin denounced the excess of regulations, tackled the lifestyle of the state and defended tax cuts of several billions for companies. He further claimed that he would reach out to his opponent if he became the boss of bosses.
The Medef will change heads in early July and there are only two candidates left: Dominique Carlac’h and Patrick Martin. The first, current spokesperson for Medef, presents herself as the candidate of modernity while Patrick Martin, the number 2 of the employers’ organization, once more defended growth before detailing some of his proposals at the microphone of BFM Business Tuesday evening.
On the menu: tens of billions in taxes less, redouble our efforts on training and put an end to excessive regulations.
“We let ourselves be overwhelmed by a kind of regulatory delirium”
“I am in favor of freedom,” said the candidate who, in effect, wants to free companies from a regulatory straitjacket that he considers harmful. “We let ourselves be overwhelmed by a kind of regulatory delirium,” he denounces.
“We create complexity morning, noon and evening for results that are often derisory or even negative,” he continues.
He also tackles the way of life of the state and of the health system, which he describes as an “elephant in the middle of the room” that no one treats and whose efficiency, however, should be reviewed, thus making it possible to huge savings.
A tax cut of 20 billion
Another flagship measure of his program: a massive reduction in corporate taxes. He recalls that, thanks to Medef, companies have already obtained 18 billion in tax cuts before adding that this is not enough.
“If we even want to reach the European average, we need 20 billion more,” he says.
To do this, a massive effort on training, skills and inclusion is necessary, “this is the subject on which we must mobilize, that generates growth,” he says.
For the undecided, Patrick Martin will defend his program once more during a debate organized on the antenna of BFM Business on June 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. He will be up once morest Dominique Carlac’h who he will reach out to if he becomes the boss of bosses, he said.
“I am more reserved regarding his alliance, that is to say the people around him,” he added. Dominique Carlac’h “might be my number 2” but he does not want to work with those around him with whom he does not agree.
