Patrick Kane’s Rehabilitation Progress and Potential Move to the Detroit Red Wings

It looks like forward Patrick Kane’s rehabilitation is going better than expected and he’s looking to the Detroit Red Wings.

This is what the journalist of the Daily Herald John Dietz, Sunday.

Kane is currently an unrestricted free agent. The 34-year-old athlete is recovering from a resurfacing of one of his hips. Last July, his agent, Pat Brisson, indicated that his client should not sign a new agreement before the start of the 2023-2024 season and that he might miss four to six months of activities.

The forward, however, is already training on the ice. According to Dietz, Kane would like to join the Red Wings to reconnect with forward Alex DeBrincat. The two Americans played together with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2017 to 2022.

After just one season with the Ottawa Senators, DeBrincat was traded to the Red Wings this summer and signed a new four-year contract worth a total of $31.5 million.

The Michigan club is the fifth team to be associated with Kane for the 2023-2024 campaign. According to The Athleticthe veteran also reportedly targeted the Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabers and New York Rangers.

In the case of the “Blueshirts”, it would be a return, since he briefly wore their colors last year.

Drafted by the Blackhawks with the very first pick of the 2007 amateur auction, Kane saw his career with the Illinois club come to an end on February 28. He was traded to the Rangers in a trade that also involved the Arizona Coyotes.

Kane has scored 21 times and provided 36 assists for 57 points in 73 games in 2022-23. This is his lowest career points tally.
