Patricia Bullrich will start the electoral campaign this Thursday with two postcards of strong symbolism: today he will meet with the governor of Corrientes, the radical, Gustavo Valdés, at the Chamamé National Festival, and on Sunday he will have a one-on-one with Mauricio Macri, in Villa la Angostura.
With these movements, Bullrich will give the political framework to his presidential planan ambition shared by at least half a dozen leaders of Together for Change.
In Bullrich’s campaign command, they affirm that the former Minister of National Security will face a “hyperactive tour”, with which he hopes to “visit small towns, sectors of the middle class affected by the economic crisis, and popular festivals”. The claim is to show an “austere campaign” once morest the deployment of Rodríguez Larreta’s electoral apparatus.
As reported, The appointment with Macri will be on Sunday in Cumelén, the country of Villa La Angostura. “It might be Monday,” they clarify from Bullrich’s environment. The former president settles there in the summer, where he mixes rest with work. In December 2016, for example, he summoned his Economy Minister, Alfonso Prat Gay, to tell him that he was firing him.
In Cumelén, Macri met twice with Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, before the end of the year. No one said anything regarding what was discussed. The truth is that following that meeting, the Buenos Aires head of government focused energetically on his presidential campaign: he combined the first half of January with tours of the Atlantic Coast and visits to festivals and tourist towns in Cordoba. He became politically close to the radical Morales-Lousteau tandem.
One version, not denied by Bullrich’s press office, says that Macri will host Bullrich at his home. ANDThis summer, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, also passed through Cumelén.
After her vacation in Brazil, the Bullrich’s first strong campaign activity will be today in radical territory, which does not seem to be a random detail. Governor Valdés invited her to the national festival of Chamamé.
The Corrientes president, until now, did not show enthusiasm with the presidential candidacy of his co-religionist Gerardo Morales. The governor of Jujuy, although he proclaimed that the UCR will have a presidential candidate in the PASO, also whitewashed the conversations underway with Larreta, Elisa Carrió and the radical of Evolución, Martín Lousteau, who aim to promote “a crossed formula”. The radicals, still not convinced by Morales, believe that the man from Jujuy is betting on supporting Larreta in a formula. Valdés and Bullrich, before the festival, will share a lunch and a tour “by the pedestrian” of the city of Corrientes.
Bullrich also explored last year the possibility of crossing formulas with the UCR. Then there was talk of the radical Alfredo Cornejo. The national deputy today is more focused on fighting for his return to the governorship of Mendoza. Bullrich is his ally: Cornejo fights with Omar De Marchi, a member of Larreta’s campaign table.
Bullrich, worried regarding Rodríguez Larreta
The president of the PRO needs to increase the political volume of her group. In a month, her rival in the PRO internship added Waldo Wolff, Silvia Lospenatto, Martín Redrado and the celestial handkerchief leader, Cynthia Hotton, to the Buenos Aires cabinet.
Bullrich, on the other hand, begins the electoral year without his campaign manager, Gerardo Millman. afflicted by complaints regarding irregular hiringr of advisers for his deputy office, and due to a legal case in which his relationship with a state contractor company is being investigated, Millman was replaced by Juan Pablo Arenaza, a historic bullrichista.
Only speculations are filtered from the Bullrich and Larreta environments regarding the steps that Macri will take. None claimed, until now, the support of the former president. “Horacio is not going to back down and his political framework contemplates all the hypotheses regarding his competitors”, a larretista told this newspaper. It is also true that “pure macrista” leaders such as Hernán Lombardi, Federico Pinedo or Senator Humberto Schiavoni approached Bullrich.
The head of the PRO deputies, Christian Ritondo, linked to María Eugenia Vida, another pre-candidate, warned: “If Mauricio decides to become President once more, it is very difficult for someone within the inmate to confront him.”
