The candidate of the Together for Change party Patricia Bullrich announced this Wednesday, October 25, that she will support Javier Milei in the second round of the Argentine presidential elections.
“We must join forces for a higher objective,” Bullrich said during a press conference.
Bullrich stated that the country needs a change and that Argentina “cannot be neutral” regarding the possibility of continuity, in Sergio Massa, of the Government of Alberto Fernández.
“For 20 years Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Alberto Fernández and Sergio Massa have plunged us into this decadence,” said Bullrich, who placed third in the first round that took place last Sunday.
The leader of Together for Change insisted that only through a country “without populism, Argentina will be able to move forward.”
“Argentina cannot live a new Kirchnerist cycle with Sergio Massa. This would imply a new historical stage under the domination of corrupt populism,” Bullrich said in his statement.
Bullrich also referred to the recent exchanges of views he had with Milei during the campaign for the first round and which included a demand from her towards the libertarian. “We forgive each other, because the country is at stake,” he said.
During his statement, Bullrich clarified that his support for Milei is given on a personal basis, so the other members of the coalition that accompanied her in the first round are free to take a different path.
The politician speaks three days following having placed third in Sunday’s election with 23.83% of the votes that They left her without the possibility of accessing the runoff.
He placed himself behind Sergio Massa, who obtained the most votes in the first round and totaled 36.6%. Milei, meanwhile, was second with 29.9%.
