With respect for fellow human beings, who are being tested, and a strong sense of solidarity, the Vice-Regional Governor of Achaia, Fokion Zaimis, joining forces with the Deputy Minister of Public Health, A. Mastorakou, and the Deputy Minister of Community Policy & Family, G. Datsika, supported the guests of the Constantopoulios nursing home, the “Merimna” foundation as well as the patients of the Karamandan Children’s Hospital.
The three units are located in the area of the Nursing Home, which was “hit” by the fire and had to be evacuated due to the fire for precautionary reasons. Mr. Zaimis successfully coordinated all the relevant services to move them to safe places, as well as to send them their medication and food.
Coordinating and controlling, the Deputy Regional Governor of Achaia remained next to the Commands of the Units, until late at night, and until every action was completed at the level of the Region of Western Greece. It should be mentioned that the elderly inmates of Konstantopoulio were transferred to the PDE hostel, “ELPIDA”, to the homeless structure of the Municipality and to the MY WAY hotel, while the patients of Karamandanei were transferred to other hospitals in Patras.
“We are going through this difficulty with all our strength next to the fire service and its men, the volunteer firefighters and all those who helped to extinguish the fire and restore the people who were moved, temporarily, to other structures,” said the Mr. Zaimis.
