GOTSIS publications with the support of the Society for Social Action and Culture Koino_Topia www.koinotopia.gr in the context of the promotion of Culture and the acquaintance with historical references in the city of Patras present the new book by Dionysis Bonelis The Musicians of Patras “The Sons and Sons – The decade – End of an era” today Wednesday 27/03/2024 at 7.30 pm in the event hall of the Philharmonic Society – Patras Conservatory (Riga Feraiu 5 and Gotsi, Patras).

Gogo Karalis (journalist), Panagiotis Rigopoulos (journalist), Takis Agouridis will speak regarding the author and the book. The presentation will be moderated by Eleftheria Makrygeni (journalist). There will be an intervention by the author and a dialogue with those present. The event will feature taped moments from the era and will conclude with live music from the 60’s and 70’s.

About the book, Dionysis Bonelis says in his foreword:

In this particular book, a research is carried out regarding the Patronian musicians who entertained the youth by creating the first bands with foreign titles, foreign copies, and played in the nightclubs of Patras in the 1960s and 1970s. They played music in the clubs of an early new era. . The reference is primarily and specifically made to the musicians who started their career in the 1960s, playing foreign songs from the new current, which began to change the conditions of the time.

It simultaneously records the main musical events and the musicians who participated in the 60s, who in a way were also the protagonists.

Let me clarify that not all musicians in our area are listed. Indicatively, musicians who passed through Patras or permanently resided in it are also recorded. There will certainly be omissions, but I want to believe that a great deal of effort was made to study the facts and sample most of the musicians.

Also, the social and political events of the era are described, as determined experientially by each musician.

Dionysis Bonelis was born in 1955 in Patras. He studied Music and worked as a Special Music Producer at ERT Patras since 1985. He taught Music Production and Sound Engineering at the ATEI of the Ionian Islands. He has written music for plays, short films and documentaries. He is engaged in writing literary books as well as poetry.
