Patras: The Municipality sends debt notices to dead people – 2024-04-07 15:49:34

Confusion, disturbance, but also macabre misunderstandings have caused some of the individual debt notices, which the Municipality of Patreon sends in waves to citizens, since in addition to the inaccuracies, errors and anachronistic inconsistencies, there is no lack of retroactive performance in Patreon, which for many years they have… emigrated to the Lord!

There are many fellow citizens who wonder what they should do and what actions they should resort to in order to find their right, since they consider that the information reported by the Municipality of Patreon is either incorrect, inaccurate, or inflated.

However, there are also cases where the relatives of the deceased are embarrassed to receive notifications addressed to deceased loved ones. Surprise and wonder turn to anxiety and stress when they realize they have to go through the soul-destroying and time-consuming process of proving that their man has left the worldly…

The notices sent by the Municipality of Patreon relate to debts from calls, from gross revenue fees, transient fees, occupation of common spaces, from docking fees, from Real Estate Fees, Municipal Tax on Electricized premises, Municipal Cleaning and Lighting Fees, rent debts and debts from cemetery fees.

The case brought to light by “P” today is indicative and concerns a well-known paternal merchant, who has been dead since 2001! The official file of the Municipality of Patreon was addressed to the same person, not of course… in Paradisos, but at the address where he lived while alive.

In fact, the debt reaches 1,000 euros, it concerns the municipal tax of the electrified area and it is even noted that following one month has passed from the payment deadline, there will be an increase of 1% per month!

The paradox is, something that testifies to the mess that prevails in the Municipality’s statements, that in this specific individual payment notice the responsible… Rhodes Municipality is mentioned! And this despite the fact that the Blessed One lived in Patras, as the address in the document states, and of course he had nothing to do with the Dodecanese!

“P” addressed the relevant explanations to the deputy mayor, Dionysis Plessas, who is the responsible deputy mayor for Administration and Municipal Status, Finance, Income Management, Local Economy, KEP, Legal Service and Internal Audit. However, Mr. Plessas did not respond.

This is how we expect the Municipality to react following today’s publication, in order to reassure the citizens and give them the necessary instructions.
