The Deputy Mayors of Administration and Finance Dionysus PlessasUrban Planning Anastasia Togiopoulou and Education Katerina Simou, attended today the Doxology at I.N. Evangelistrias (the Mayor is absent from Patras), and immediately following, in the parade, events held for the anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 25her March 1821.
Mr. Plessas stated regarding the message of the day: “The Greek people in 1821 won their freedom by fighting, defending their lives and their territorial integrity, once morest the Turkish yoke. The bourgeois national liberation Revolution is and remains emblematic, because it proves that the new, the revolutionary, is superior to the old. In this sense, the messages remain relevant and alive and we honor all those who made the Revolution of 1821 by following them. Today there are so many imperialist interventions in the world and our country is unfortunately involved. As then, so today, the “great” powers were not with the Revolution, that is why we believe that the struggle of the peoples continues, because only the struggles bring freedom and peace and not the involvement of our country in the NATO, US and EU wars
We are fighting for real freedom, so that not only the exploitation of state by state, but also the exploitation of man by man will disappear.”
