The children of the Children’s Day Camps of the Municipality of Patreon they started building their own chariot for Patrinos Carnival of 2025!
This is the first float of the Carnival Workshop in view of the next Carnival, which is based on an idea of the manufacturer, Dimitris Ndzoumani. The float is created exclusively by the children of the camps, in a specially designed space at the Carnival Workshop, where they learn and apply the basic techniques of float construction: carving, drawing and painting.
The action aims at the direct, experiential contact of the city’s children with the special technique of making a chariot. Through this process, it is sought to transmit quality carnival characteristics to the new generations of Patrinas, such as imagination, participation and creativity. In addition, cultural sensitivity is cultivated and skills related to our Carnival are developed. In this way, the preservation of the institution is strengthened and at the same time its creative development is promoted.
Instructors are the creators of the Carnival Workshop: Dimitris Djoumanis (carving), Christina Koufaki (carving, mapping), George Babilis (painting). The coordinator of the action is Christina Koufaki and head of the Carnival Workshop o Nikos Livanis.
The first meeting was also attended by Giorgos Mayakismunicipal councilor and mayor’s assistant, responsible for the educational program of the camps.
The result of the workshops will be “kept secret” until its completion and will… be revealed at the Great Parades of the Patronus Carnival 2025!
