Patras: Request for permanent cooperation of the Region with the Army, what is proposed

On the 15th, the crawler truck provided by the Directorate of Construction and Natural Disaster Management (DIKAFKA) of GEETHA, following a request from the Region of Western Greece, attempted to clean and open fire zones in difficult mountainous areas of Achaia, with the “mission” being completed last Friday.

Under review is according to “Peloponnisos” information, from the Region of Western Greece, the assistance of the Army in preventive fire protection actions, to take on a permanent character, with the conclusion of a memorandum of cooperation.

In this direction, as sources told “P”, the proposal that is expected to be submitted will include the request for the availability of DIKAFKA operators, who will carry out an important project, using the PDE project machinery. A proposal that, if finally accepted, as emphasized by circles in the Region, would “untie the hands” of Civil Protection, given that it lacks a permanent staff of operators, since no recruitment has been done in the last 6 years.

It is recalled that the list of high-risk areas was provided by the Forestry Department of Patras to the competent services of the GHETHA and after a technical study by the Army, the fire protection cleanings were targeted based on the needs of each area.
