The complaints that reach the “Peloponnisos” from the residents of the Refuge, who see the reconstruction work changing their neighborhood, but find the slow progress of the work “keeps” the area in a construction site state, are strong.
A natural consequence is that the residents face the intense dust every day and do not dare to open doors and windows in their homes. In addition, the Refugee construction site has created several “traps” for elderly fellow citizens who are concerned about their physical integrity because the risk of accidents due to the materials has increased.
At the same time, the hot season we are going through is not favored by the fact that many trees have been cut down. The result is that the shade and natural coolness offered by the mulberry trees in the area has been lost.
In several places, such as on the streets around the Refugees’ field and also where work has started elsewhere, the residents do not see development but sand dunes.
In the meantime, everyone expects that the area will become much better with the completion of the works, but until then they know that they will suffer since things are not going as smoothly as they would like…
