Patras: “Prodigy child” Giannis from Kaminia

The phrase “prodigy child” fits the case of little Yiannis Makris, who, although a student in the 5th grade of primary school, already holds in his hands the Lower and indeed the University of Cambridge.

“Perhaps the youngest holder of a Cambridge fce certificate, having only taken the exam in Fifth Primary and passed. And I underline this because it is the most difficult English certification degree,” Anastasia Bezerianou, the teacher and owner of the Boulevard Tuition Center in Kaminia Foreign Language Center, told “Peloponnisos”.

To our question if she followed any particular teaching method for little John, Mrs. Bezerianou answered: “What played an important role is definitely the maturity of the child. The child himself, when he realized our goal, worked with gusto to achieve it. Of course, he could also respond to the above pressure. I mean I don’t mean a heavy workload, I never liked to burden the children, I prefer them to play. What I mean is that I could push him in the summer and instead of stopping in May, like a lot of kids, we took advantage of June to do an intensive course and get through a class, with daily lessons.”

His teacher emphasizes that in this whole effort the parents of the little one were allies who saw his will to move forward. “Giannakis began to feel pride long before he passed, already in preparation, because he could understand that just to be in this class at such a young age was in itself a great achievement. When I called him and told him that he passed, his joy was beyond measure, like a child who won a battle in his favorite game. Personally, I believe that deep down he knew how it would go, because in the last months before he gave, I wanted to send him the message that since I believe in you, you should also believe in yourself, because I knew it was worth it” describes Mrs. Bezerianou, conveying the joy of his parents.

“Yannis’ parents could feel nothing but pride and pride. His mom, of course, before the little boy gave his diploma, was worried and jokingly said to me “Well, does this kid have nothing for home again?” Is that how it goes and comes?” And the truth is that in the last months there was nothing for home because when you have solid foundations there is no need for stress and pressure at the end, you just practice what you know.”
