Ioannis Sot’s death spread immense sadness. A baller both in the local community of Patras, but also in the “family” of New Left Achaia. Yiannis Balaris “passed away” on Tuesday, February 27 at the age of 63.

His funeral, which will be civil, will take place tomorrow, Friday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m. in the First Cemetery of Patras.

Who was Yiannis Balaris?

Yiannis Balaris was originally from Thessaloniki, but coming to Patras as a student, he stayed for the rest of his life.

The deceased studied at the Polytechnic of Patras, Electrical Engineer (1978-1983), while he had intense political and trade union activity through the Left.

In the previous regional elections, he was a candidate with the combination “Resistance of Citizens” of Vassilis Hatzilambros.

Professionally, he worked for decades in the field of IT in Patras, while in recent years and before he retired some time ago, he was a scientific associate of the Commercial Import Association of Patras, having been actively involved in the issue of the Open Trade Center promoted by the Association together with the Municipality of Patras .
