Due to the high risk (category 4) of a fire event in Achaia today Tuesday, 16/07/2024, the Autonomous Department of Civil Protection of the Municipality of Patreon, draws the attention of the citizens and informs that a ban will apply, for precautionary reasons, on the movement of vehicles and the stay of excursionists on forest roads in the following areas:
• T/K Kallithea from Field and above and from Tank and above
• Dasyllio pine forest of the Municipality of Patreon and pine forest of Gerokomeio area
• Kefalovrysos pine forest Fountain. (Forest road network and fire zones)
• Karkalos Forest Ano Kastritsiou in places Mochlos-Haradros-Paschaliani-Ag. Paraskevi-Gefyri Sofenas-Mochlos bridge.
• Platani Equestrian Club to Ano Kastritsi.
• Sickle – Agios Georgios – Anemodouri (Kaimaka).
The ban lasts from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Excluded from the ban are permanent residents, workers, landowners and breeders of the area and those who move on national, provincial and paved municipal roads.
IN ORDER TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PREVENTION OF CAUSING AND EVENT OF FIRE, WE MUST OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
• Do not burn garbage or dry grass and branches during the summer months and especially when there are strong winds.
• In the summer months, do not light outdoor grills in the woods or in areas where there are dry grasses.
• Avoid outdoor work that might cause a fire (welding, using a wheel or other tool that creates sparks).
• Never throw lit cigarettes when we are outdoors or outside the car while we are in motion.
• We do not leave garbage in the forest. There will be a risk of ignition due to the high temperatures
• To respect the prohibitions of access to forest areas in periods of high risk
• To clear our properties of vegetation that will become dry grass in the summer months and of piles of branches and other flammable materials.
• If we notice a fire, immediately call the Fire Service on the phone 199 – 112 and give clear information regarding the location and the exact spot where we are, as well as information regarding the specific place where we see a fire, describe the type of vegetation that is burning and determine the direction of the fire.
It is also recommended to citizens and especially to farmers, breeders and beekeepers to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause a fire by negligence such as burning grass – branches and cleaning residues, the use of machines that cause sparks such as circular saws, welding devices, the use of outdoor grills , the smoking of bees, as well as the use of agricultural machinery (destroyer) for clearing plots and agricultural lands.
The Autonomous Department of Civil Protection of the Municipality will be in a state of readiness on a 24-hour basis with all the involved Services of the Municipality.
