A meeting regarding the mission of the Patras team to the International Children’s City Games, which will be held in the city of León, Mexico from July 16 to 20, was held on Wednesday, July 3, in the “Aleka Siuli” Hall of the Pamploponnisian Stadium. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayors of Administration, Finance and Citizen Services Dionysis Plessas and Sports, Environment and Greenery Takis Petropoulos, officials, coaches, athletes and parents of athletes.
The Patras delegation will consist of 8 Tae Kwon Do athletes, of which 4 are girls and 4 are boys. The head of the delegation and representative of the city will be the Deputy Mayor Dionysis Plessas, the leader of the delegation will be Giorgos Stavropoulos and the coaches will be Michalis Kotsopoulos and Lena Loi.
During the meeting, Deputy Mayor Dionysis Plessas pointed out “the alternative nature of the International Children’s City Games, as the greater value is not the victory but the participation and the effort and the fact that they bring together young people of different nationality, race, culture, morals and customs thus contributing to the fight once morest racism and fascism and strengthening the friendship and cooperation of peoples and World Peace”.
Deputy Mayor Takis Petropoulos, following referring to the history of the games, to their initiator and founder Methodios Clemens and to their special importance, urged the athletes “to enjoy the journey and the unique experience that their participation in the Games will offer them and wished them a good journey” .
