“Patience is Key: Grey Skies and Rain Persist in Belgium During Springtime”

Despite the shift to summer time, the sun is nowhere to be seen. The absence of sunshine has left many wondering why. The search for the sun resulted in disappointment as it was not found. The rainy weather has left everyone soaked, and the city center of Liège looks dull, except for Roberto, who is still smiling. Unfortunately, this bad weather won’t end anytime soon. According to climatologist Sébastien Doutreloup from the University of Liège, there will be a succession of depressions throughout the week, followed by a little hot snap and then a little cold snap. This is a common weather pattern at this time of year, with the Azores anticyclone being blocked in the South and giving way to depressions. It is essential to stay well-equipped this week as the overcast sky is expected to last.

Despite the transition to summer time, we are still far from it. Indeed, the sun does not show itself. How to explain it?

We looked for him all followingnoon, but he mightn’t be found. Where is the sun? “Not here, anyway,” notes a brave jogger in the rain.

Today, everyone is soaked. In the city center of Liège, the terraces look gray, only Roberto keeps smiling. “It’s not easy to keep your spirits up, but you have to keep going, even if I’d rather it be sunny,” he laughs.

Bernadette tries to arrive at the church safe and sound, but bad news for Bernadette, this weather will continue. “We are going to have a succession of depression throughout the week, then a little hot snap, then a little cold snap, and so on …”, notes Sébastien Doutreloup, climatologist at the University of Liège.

A completely normal phenomenon at this time of year: when the Azores anticyclone remains blocked in the South and gives way to depressions to water the country. “You have to be patient, but I can’t tell you for how long!”

No matter what you do this week, a word of advice: stay well equipped. Indeed, this sky, charged just above your head, should remain a little longer.

So there you have it, folks. Despite the fact that we’ve already transitioned to summer time, the sun seems to be playing hide-and-seek with us. It’s a normal occurrence at this time of year, as depressions continue to reign supreme over the Azores anticyclone. While it may be tempting to give up and let the weather get us down, let’s take a page out of Roberto’s book and keep smiling. And most importantly, don’t forget to stay well-equipped for the unpredictable weather that lies ahead. Happy adventuring!
