Rohit Sharma also fell short of double century; Nisanka is unable to touch Ishaan and Gill
Sri Lankan superstar Pathum made waves by scoring a double century in the first match of the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka ODI series. Lankan Lions scored 381 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated over following Nisanka’s firework at the Pallekale Stadium in Kandy.

Nisanka became the first Sri Lankan player to score a double century in ODIs and became the highest run scorer for Lanka in ODIs. Nisanka has surpassed the legendary player Sanath Jayasuriya’s 189 runs scored in 2000.
After this double century achievement, some other records have also been sought by the star. Nisanka has reached the achievement of becoming the third youngest player to complete a double century in the ODI format.
The Lankan opener is the youngest opener to complete a double century in the ODI format following Indian players Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan.
